- Kid at yesterday's intramural soccer game: So, are you guys grad students?
My classmate: Yeah.
Kid: I thought you guys looked old. - Found Salt & Pepa's classic "Push It" on the Sirius 80s channel & was blasting it on my way home from the game as I drove through campus.... then I realized the vast majority of the people I was passing were not even born when that song came out in 1988.
- Standing in line for the bathroom at the bar last night. Me: Pens tee shirt, jeans, flip flops, pigtails. Every other girl: skanky tank top and/or little shorts, high heels, way too much makeup.
- While typing this on my phone at the bus stop, two girls walk past very clearly doing the walk of shame. One of them is wearing a fur coat.

Random thoughts with Brenna
What is it about different shaped pasta that makes it so much better? We bought some spiral-shaped mac & cheese this week, and I'm enjoying it so much more than regular shaped mac & cheese.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people wait all year for March Madness. For some, it's the World Series. For me, the most wonderful time of the year is almost upon us. Yes, the NHL Playoffs begin on Wednesday.
Why is this the greatest playoffs in all of sports? Because of players like Ryan Malone, who gets hit in the face with a hockey puck and thinks nothing of returning to the ice a few minutes later. Because you can literally watch nothing but hockey for the first few rounds. Because of sudden death overtime. Because of the hatred you develop for a team after playing them up to 6 times in the regular season and another 7 times in the playoffs. Because it's not always Crosby or Lemieux or Gretzky or Ovechkin... it's the guys like Talbot or Kasparitis who score the goals you'll remember forever. Because of playoff beards. Because of the energy in the Igloo during a whiteout game. Because of 8 seeds who make it to the Finals. And because the Stanley Cup is the coolest, most bad-ass trophy in all of sports.
Go Pens.

If they still have the pool, I'm there.
Ok, so my intense desire to see Brenda & Kelly reunited fizzled out pretty quickly once I realized the new 90210 sucked. (I only have time for one set of bratty, too rich for their own good high-school kids, and they reside on the Upper East Side.) But the news that Michael AND Sydney are tagged for the new Melrose Place? Well, now I'm intrigued. If Amanda's back too, then sign me up.

Dumbest thing ever.
I have to do an internship for credit for my degree, ok? And since the economy is in the crapper, I'm not getting paid for my internship this summer, right? So, I think it's BRILLIANT (sarcasm intended) that I have to pay my school to do that internship. That's right, I have to pay for the credits I'm required to take, even though they're doing nothing to aid me in getting those credits besides entering it into a computer and this payment is not covered by my assistantship, and I wasn't made aware of this prior to last week.
I just think that's really dumb.

What I'm liking right now
I've been obsessed over the last week or so with the Best Week Ever 90s Movie Madness poll. In March Madness fashion, they created four brackets of 64 movies in order to find the most 90s movie there was. You all know I'm incredibly 90s-nostalgic, so I've been voting like crazy, debating the 90s-ness of various movies with my friends, and laughing at the comments on the voting pages. There's seriously a war raging between those who were teens in the early-90s and are pushing for movies like Reality Bites & Singles, and those who were teens in the late-90s (guilty as charged). We're voting for movies like American Pie, She's All That, & Scream. So which is more 90s? That's like asking whether Nirvana or The Spice Girls were more 90s. Obviously, one is much higher quality, but you can't deny that the other is just as representative of the bubblegum half of the decade. If you want to get in on the voting for the voting (we're down to the Elite Eight!) it's all here.
What else am I liking right now? The fact that I'll be in the DC area for the summer! I have an internship at a marketing/representation agency in their hockey marketing department (which is currently one person, so I will hopefully have lots to do). I got a DC tease last weekend when I went to visit, and what I am looking forward to for the summer include: my friends, the amazing food there, outdoor happy hours, and even the metro. What I am not looking forward to: once again living in a swamp.
And my last thing I'm liking right now is the Penguins. Obviously, I like them all the time, but have you been watching them lately? They are sick. Sid is on fire. Geno is being his Geno self (let's hope he shows up for the playoffs this year). Fleury is playing out of his mind. I heart our new guys, Guerin & Kunitz. And what I especially love is that, looking at the teams we'd potentially face in round 1, I know they'd all be tough battles, but I truly believe we could beat any one of them in a 7-game series. Personally, I'm hoping for a Caps/Pens round 1 matchup, so a) we can shut up those obnoxious fans, & b) I can see the matchup before I go to Australia. When I booked my trip, the Pens were in 10th place and looking like they'd fall farther. Now I'm all geared up for the playoffs, and I'm leaving the country for 2 weeks in the middle of them.
