Sorry.

Last week was finals for my first term (the first half of our first semester), and I am just now getting somewhat back to normal. I have piles of unopened mail, piles of laundry, and a nearly empty blog. I had a draft of a post-debate rant that is probably now dated, and I don't even recall where I wanted to go with it. So I'm starting over again. I promise I'll be a little more diligent about this now. :)

TGIF

It's Friday, and I usually don't have class on Friday... and even better, it's Columbus Day weekend, which means I have off Monday. I don't have to be back in class until 1:00 on Tuesday, and it is GLORIOUS.

I've got a nice, relaxing weekend ahead of me. I can actually veg out and watch football on Sunday (figures, it's the Steelers bye week). I can get my work done for next week, so I can veg out on Tuesday night and watch the Pens take on the Flyers. I'm heading up to Mount Snow, VT, for Oktoberfest tomorrow to drink and eat too much. Life is pretty good.

The September wedding/mom visiting bonanza is over as well, so I actually can stay in Amherst and get to know my way around. I haven't checked out the shops or the restaurants yet or even just walked around much - maybe take some pictures of the foliage, carve a pumpkin, do some of the things I did before starting school - like maybe just hanging out and watching Vh1. I hear there's a new Rock of Love Charm School. You best believe I'm all over that.

Have a good weekend! I know I will. :)

Pondering...

What is proper laundry room etiquette? For example, if I go down to the laundry room, where there is one washer and one dryer, and the washer is done with its cycle, can I take out that person's clothes? Because I have approximately 18 loads of laundry that need to be done, and I'd kind of like to get started.

Damn, I miss having a washer/dryer in my apartment.

On a more interesting note, I'm somewhat obsessed with this song lately. It's called "Sometime Around Midnight" by The Airborne Toxic Event. I'm working my way through the rest of their album and think it's pretty good, though this song is tops by far. Enjoy.

A note to gynecologists in training

This may be verging on TMI, but if you know a girly doctor, or someone training to be a girly doctor, do every woman a service and pass this along.

When you are about to examine me, please do not attempt to make small talk about Sidney Crosby.

Thank you.

Apartment photos

As requested (by precisely one of you), here are some pictures of our tiny Amherst apartment:

Here's the bedroom... it's a rather long, narrow room, and as you can see, two of the walls are actually brick.

Our tiny living room/dining room area. It's definitely the smallest area in the apartment, but we make do. It will feel bigger once our massive TV unit is gone and (hopefully) replaced with a sleeker HD model.

Joe in the "office," aka "storage room/office." Note the framed terrible towel on the left - this is also our Pittsburgh shrine. Joe's Myron Cope Rolling Rock cans are just above the towel, and above that is his Pittsburgh puzzle. Our Mellon Arena picture is on the other wall.

And the infamous train tracks... I wanted to get a picture of a train going past so you could actually see I'm not exaggerating about how close they are... but those trains are too speedy.
