That felt good.

Joe told me he's a lucky guy yesterday, and I suppose that's because I just had the best birthday I could possibly imagine: standing on a cold, rainy afternoon in Foxboro watching my beloved Steelers beat the hated New England Patriots into a bloody pulp. I'd link to the video of Wes Welker being laid out - the hit that subsequently almost got Joe into a fight with a douchey Pats fan in front of us - but I think you've seen it a few times already. :)

Our day began with a 3.5 hour drive to Foxboro (it should be 2 hours). Gillette Stadium is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It's sort of like FedEx Field in MD... but if the drive to FedEx Field went along a road lined with strip malls a la Route 22 in Monroeville, PA. The strangest part is that the stores along the road will let you park in their lots, so you've got people tailgating in the parking lot of Mattress Discounters.

It was an absolutely miserable day in Massachusetts, but luckily our seats were under an overhang, giving us a nice respite from the rain. We were already soaked from the walk to the stadium though, so it didn't really matter much.

The Pats fans around us were really fun, for the most part. The aforementioned douche-bag in front of us was the only person who really got pissy. Everyone else stayed really cool, even when the Pats self-destructed in the second half. That is, until they all left.

I know this game doesn't mean much. It keeps us in the division lead and reminds the league that we are awesome. But, in terms of head-to-head games with the Pats, I'd take one of those AFC Championship games over this one any day. That said, it felt really good to beat the Pats. In New England. By 23 points. I love my football team.
